The Indie Games Polska Foundation (IGP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Polish video game industry, with a focus on independent developers, small studios, and emerging talent. Its mission is to help Polish creators gain industry knowledge, build recognizable brands, and promote and sell their games on international markets. Through numerous initiatives, IGP helps developers strengthen their global presence while elevating Poland’s reputation as a leader in the gaming industry.
A cornerstone of IGP’s work is enabling Polish developers to showcase their games at major international industry events. The foundation regularly organizes booths at prominent trade fairs such as Gamescom, Tokyo Game Show, PAX, and ChinaJoy. These platforms offer developers a chance to connect with business partners, access new markets, and gain recognition among players and media. Additionally, IGP organizes the "Polish Party" networking events at these fairs, fostering informal connections and opening doors to collaboration opportunities.
IGP also manages PolskiGamedev.pl, a portal that provides valuable insights into the Polish gaming market, analyzing its dynamics and challenges while supporting industry education. Complementing the portal is the PolskiGamedev.pl magazine, featuring detailed reports, interviews with industry leaders, and trend analyses. The foundation also produces the popular podcast “Polska w Grze” ("Poland in the Game"), where Polish developers share their experiences, inspiring and educating the gamedev community.
Educational and creative activities are another important part of IGP’s mission. The foundation organizes game jams, bringing creators together to develop video games on specific themes, often tackling significant social and cultural topics. Examples include game jams inspired by Polish literature, such as Adam Mickiewicz’s works, or initiatives promoting solidarity, like "United with Ukraine." IGP also supports young developers through a scholarship program for the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, offering a critical first step in launching international careers.
IGP is committed to preserving the history of Polish gamedev through initiatives like "Hall of Fame," which collects the memories and insights of industry pioneers, and the "Digital Dreamers" exhibition, which showcases the development of Polish game production. This exhibition, promoted globally in cooperation with Polish diplomatic missions, highlights Poland’s achievements in the gaming industry. Moreover, IGP collaborates internationally, forging agreements with organizations in China, Korea, and Chile, and fostering regional initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe, such as the Central & Eastern European Game Awards (CEEGA).
The foundation is also active in legislative efforts, representing the Polish video game sector both domestically and at the European level, notably through the European Game Developers Federation (EGDF). By addressing market challenges and advocating for the industry, IGP empowers Polish developers to succeed globally, while reinforcing Poland’s position as a key player in the rapidly growing video game sector. These efforts reflect IGP’s overarching goal of promoting Polish games as an essential part of culture and economy on the global stage.
